Flamenco fashion shows

Flamenco, Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, is one of Andalusia’s most recognised signs of identity. One of its most beautiful forms of expression is flamenco fashion, whose shapes and colours have crossed borders to seduce both East and West.

During Andalusia Week, the Spain Pavilion at Expo Dubai will host daily ‘Marca Andalucía’ flamenco fashion shows , which will be complemented by flamenco music to accompany and inspire visitors.

s a special feature, the fashion shows will be interactive, so that the public will have the opportunity to take photographs with the models, who will be dressed in traditional flamenco costumes and will parade along the usual route of the visitors through the Pavilion.

Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía / Andalusian Flamenco Ballet

Andalusia is the origin and cradle of great flamenco artists in singing, guitar playing and dancing. One of its main emblems is the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía, which has been creating shows of this unique art for more than 25 years, with almost 1,500 performances on five continents.

In the Andalusia Week at Expo Dubai 2020, the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía will present a diverse programme, showing visitors the richness of Andalusian flamenco with small recitals, solo numbers, paso a dos or choral numbers on two stages: the Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre and the Spain Pavilion.

On 8 February, the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía will present at the Dubai Millenium Amphitheatre its great show, ‘Naturalmente Flamenco’, an essential shows that show Flamenco´s roots. Furthermore, on 7, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 February, flamenco sessions will be organised in the Spanish Pavilion with pieces from other highly successful show, ‘Antonio… 100 years of art’.

Showcookings and EVOO tastings

Andalusia elevates gastronomy to the category of art. One of the world’s richest pantries joins an extensive culinary tradition, the result of the fusion of Mediterranean cultures, and the talent and innovation of its chefs, to create a cuisine that can be enjoyed with all five senses.

Extenda-Andalucía Exports and Foreign Investment brings its essence to the Spain Pavilion at Expo Dubai 2020, through wo outstanding gastronomic proposals during Andalusia Week: daily tastings of Andalusian extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), our liquid gold, and showcookings of traditional Arab-Andalusian inspired recipes.

Through the oil tasting bar, visitors will be able to enjoy a selection of the best Andalusian extra virgin olive oils,, recognised as the best in the world, as well as learn about the different varieties of olives, their health benefits and their versatility to improve the traditional recipes of Arab gastronomy.

The showcookings will last 40 minutes each and will feature typical Middle Eastern dishes prepared with Andalusian extra virgin olive oil. Thus, the Andalusian chef Amelia Gómez will show how a premium olive oil can round off traditional dishes coming from the Arab culinary culture, such as hummus (chickpea cream), muhhamara (pepper and walnut cream), muttabal (aubergine pâté) and muttabel shawandar (beetroot sauce).
